The second report of the National Family Health Survey-5 has come out. The report said that the number of tobacco and alcohol users in the country has come down. At the same time, cases of domestic violence against women have increased. 59% of women in India are not allowed to go out of the market, hospital or village.

79% of women tolerate husband’s tyranny silently
As the age of women in the country increases, domestic violence against them also increases. 17% of women in the age group of 18 to 19 years are victims of domestic violence, while 32% of women in the age group of 40-49 years are facing this. According to the NFHS-5 report, 79.4% of women never report atrocities committed by their husbands.

In the case of sexual violence, 99.5% of women keep silence. 70% of women whose husbands frequently drink alcohol have experienced violence from them. There are also 23% of women whose husbands do not drink alcohol, yet are victims of violence. Domestic violence is more common in villages than in cities.

65% of mothers with 2 daughters do not want sons
Today, even though daughters have overtaken sons in many fields, but the desire to have a son in the family still remains. The latest NFHS-5 survey says that 65% of women with only two daughters do not want a son, while 35% do. At the same time, 91% of mothers with only two sons do not wish for a daughter. The figure is more or less the same in the case of men as well.

According to the report, 70% of married women aged 15-49 do not want any more children. However, in 2015-16 this figure was only 68%. At the same time, women now want only a small family. The average which was at 2.2 in 2015-16 has come down to 2.1.

Reduced consumption of alcohol and tobacco
Consumption of alcohol and tobacco is decreasing in the country. In 2015-16, 29% people used to drink alcohol and 45% people used tobacco, but in 2019-21, it has come down to 22% drinkers and 39% who use tobacco. This information has come to the fore in the latest report of the National Health Family Survey-5 (NFHS-5).

At the same time, there has also been a decrease of 3% (from 7% to 4%) in women who use tobacco. The good news is that the habit of eating fried food every day has decreased in both men and women. However, in the last four years, the figure of slim women has come down from 23% to 19%.
