Bhumika Chawla recalls shooting for Satish Kaushik’s Tere Naam and expresses grief over his loss.

Satish Kaushik’s sudden death due to a heart attack at the age of 66 has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. The actor, who was in Delhi to participate in Holi celebrations, passed away on Thursday and the void left by him will remain unfilled for the times to come. Bhumika Chawla, who came into limelight with Tere Naam, directed by Satish Kaushik, has expressed grief over his demise.

During a conversation with Times of India, Bhumika said, ‘The first film and the people associated with it are always special. I started my career in Bollywood With ‘Tere Naam’ – it was a big project as the film was directed by Satish ji and I was paired opposite Salman Khan. Although I was confident because of my previous work in the South, I was still sometimes nervous. I remember shooting a scene where I had to deliver a dialogue in a temple, but I kept forgetting the lines. Everyone was tense as it was dark and we had to complete the scene. Satishji tried to help me by giving me pointers and motivating me. At that moment, I realized that the actor in him understood what I was going through. He was very dear to her.

Appreciating the unique legacy of Satish Kaushik, Bhumika shared that the late visionary always tried to innovate. She said, “Despite such an illustrious line-up of work spanning decades and the kind of people he worked with, he remained grounded. He had the most amazing smile on his face. Even after working for decades, he was still excited about new things and wanted to push the envelope. He was childlike and had a never done attitude.

He further added, “I got a message from someone informing about his untimely demise. I didn’t know how to react to this. It took me back in time when he asked me to meet him about a month back but we couldn’t as I was busy with my son’s exams. I have learned that time never really waits for anyone. I am in shock. I feel strongly for his wife and daughter. I am praying to God to give him the strength to deal with this irreparable loss.”

While Bhumika and Satish Kaushik had not worked together after Tere Naam, the two had reunited after many years and were also planning to make an intense film. “I connected better with him many years after ‘Tere Naam’. We often met with our children, his daughter Vanshika (10) and my son Yash (9). He invited me to watch his film Kaagaz. was,” she recalled.
