A Panipuri vendor in Bhopal celebrated the birth of a daughter by giving free golgappas in the city. Aanchal Gupta, a resident of Bima Kunj Kolar area, welcomed a baby girl in her family on August 17. To mark the occasion, Gupta distributed spicy snacks filled with tamarind water free of cost to hundreds of people in his locality. People thronged to eat free golgappas and they also congratulated Gupta.

Gupta said that he prayed for a daughter and visited several religious places, after which the Lord granted his wish. He said that those who had come to wish him were given free panipuri.

Despite being a street vendor and earning only decent money, Gupta has set an example for a society where the birth of a girl child is still considered inauspicious in some parts. Her move to celebrate the birth of a daughter has sent a positive change.

The Panipuri vendor rightly said that some people still wish for a son, but their entire family is happy with the birth of a daughter. Gupta made proper arrangements with tents and everything to attend the function along with the local political leaders.

Gupta is the sole breadwinner in his family, but he said the birth of a daughter has given him new energy.
