Actor Kartik Aaryan has hit his first Rs 100-crore opener with the horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which performed impressively over the Diwali weekend despite facing tough competition from Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again.
After an impressive career-best opening of Rs 35.50 crore net, BB3 saw a slight jump on Saturday, followed by a solid hold on Sunday, bringing in an estimated Rs 32-33 crore net, a minimal drop of about 10%-15%. This three-day total has now reached around Rs 104 crore net. This opening weekend collection nearly doubles that of its predecessor, which earned approximately Rs 56 crore in its debut weekend and Rs 92 crore in its first full week. It also marks the highest opening weekend for director Anees Bazmee and the main cast.
BB3 has shown stronger momentum than Singham Again, with favourable audience reception leaning towards the horror-comedy genre. While the movie is off to a fantastic start, its Monday performance will be critical to its sustained success.
The film had an impressive start at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 35.5 crore on its opening day. The film continued to perform well, with around Rs 36.50 crore collected on its second day, bringing the total domestic collection to approximately Rs 72 crore, according to Sacnilk.
News18 Showsha gave the film 2 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “An engaging climax keeps you hooked in the second half and seals the fact that Kartik Aaryan can dance! As for the main plot, the movie revolves around three primary characters: Rooh Baba, Manjullika portrayed by the amazing Vidya Balan, and Anjulika portrayed by Madhuri Dixit Nene. Both talented actresses shine and have, arguably, shouldered the film themselves. It’s a delight to watch Balan back as the famous Manjullika, and Nene, as always, is just a pleasure to watch.”
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan, who reprised his role as the ghostbuster Rooh Baba in the third instalment, took to social media to share his excitement and thank his fans for their unwavering support. Taking to his Instagram handle, Kartik shared a photo which read “A global blockbuster Day 1 55.30 cr worldwide.”
In addition to Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit Nene, the film also stars Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, and Ashwini Kalselar.
