It is believed that Baba Vishwanath (Lord Shiva) comes to the Manikarnika Ghat in the afternoon to take a bath. Over the years this tradition is going on here with full vigor and enthusiasm.

Here in the afternoon aarti of Baba Mahashmashnath and Mata Mashan Kali is performed and pyre and gulal are offered to Baba-Mother.
