Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. At Lakhanpur, the gateway of the state, at quarter to six in the evening, the Yatra will be given a grand welcome with three thousand torches. NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and leaders of other parties of the state will participate. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Lakhanpur. Police and security forces have completed preparations for this.

In view of the entry of Yatra in the state, the route diversion will also be applicable. Vehicles coming from Pathankot to Jammu will be diverted from Keedian in Punjab itself. Vehicles passing through this route will leave on the Pathankot-Jammu highway at Laundi turn of Kathua. The next day on Friday, Rahul’s yatra will start from Hatli More in Kathua and reach Chadwal. This yatra will remain in the state for 12 days. The yatra will conclude in Srinagar on January 30. A rally is proposed here at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, where leaders of various parties across the country will participate.

The march, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, will end with the unfurling of the national flag by Rahul Gandhi in Srinagar. The Yatra has so far covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

What is the travel schedule in the state

Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Lakhanpur (Jammu-Kashmir) from Punjab on the evening of 19th January. The flag hoisting ceremony will take place near the statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh between 5.45 pm to 6.15 pm. After the night halt, Rahul Gandhi will lead the yatra from Hatli Mor in Kathua at 7 am on January 20 and will halt at Chadwal for the night.

After halting on January 21, there will be a journey from Hiranagar to Duggar Haveli Nanak Chakk (21 km) on January 22. The yatra will reach Satwari from Vijaipur on January 23 and will halt at Sidda Jammu for the night. A rally is also planned at Satwari Chowk in Jammu.

An application has been made for permission from the administration and it is expected that the administration will get full cooperation. The next route of the yatra will be made public after the UT administration and security agencies get clearance.
