‘Best bowler in format’ – Sachin Tendulkar praises Jasprit Bumrah on Twitter

India registered a sensational 10-wicket win in their 3-match ODI series against England at the Kennington Oval, London on Tuesday. The star of the match was fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah who won the player of the match award for his career best 6/19.

While Bumrah was being widely praised for his performance in the match, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar had one of the best compliments. Tendulkar wrote, “The pitch at the Oval has a lot of bounce but the Indian bowlers bowled with the right length and it made a difference.” “Brilliant bowling performance from India’s fast bowling attack especially Bumrah, which was just phenomenal.”

In a follow-up tweet, Tendulkar said how he and former England captain-turned-commentator Nasser Hussain agreed that Bumrah was the best bowler across formats. He said, ‘I believe Bumrah is the best bowler in all formats. Good to hear that @nassercricket on-air agrees with me,” he tweeted.

With this match, Bumrah became the first Indian fast bowler to take five or more wickets in an ODI in England, deserving praise from Tendulkar and Hussain. Burma’s figures are now the third best for an Indian bowler behind Stuart Binny’s 6/4 and Anil Kumble’s 6/12.

Mohammed Shami played second to Bumrah claiming 3/31 as England were reduced to just 110 runs in 25.2 overs – their lowest ODI score against India. In foggy conditions at the Kennington Oval, England batsmen were undone by both Bumrah and Shami’s swing and seam, with openers Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone failing to open their accounts.

Only Jos Buttler put up some resistance by scoring 30 – the highest score in England’s innings. in the north, India Coming back Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Rohit Sharma, together with an unbeaten opening stand, chased down the target in just 18.4 overs. Sharma remained unbeaten on 76, while Dhawan remained unbeaten on 31.
