Jerusalem: Benjamin: netanyahu And his family evacuated the Israeli prime minister.s The official residence early Sunday, nearly a month after the longtime leader was ousted with the formation of an alternative government.
A family spokesperson confirmed netanyahu abandoned residence on Balfour Street Jerusalem immediately after midnight, in line with the deadline agreed with the newly appointed prime minister last month Naftali Bennett.
The Balfour residence had become a symbol of Netanyahu’s scandals, and was the scene of weekly protests against Netanyahu over the past year. The protesters called on the then prime minister to resign during the corruption trial. Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing and has refused to step down.
Netanyahu was Israel’s longest-serving prime minister, having held the office for the past 12 years and one term in the 1990s, and occupied the residence since 2009.
Bennett has yet to announce a date to move into the residence.
