Bengaluru Weather Update: Heavy Rains, Thunderstorm Lash City, IMD Issues Warning

Weather Update: Bengaluru witnessed another spell of heavy rain with hailstorm in many areas on May 21. The Indian Meteorological Department has alerted the people and informed them that rain is likely to continue in the city for a few days.

Heavy rain and thunderstorm have forced people to stay indoors and two- and three-wheeler riders have to face inconvenience. Due to the sudden rains, the roads have been flooded, due to which the passers-by are facing problems.

Thousands of cricket lovers, especially (Royal Challengers Bangalore) RCB fans, who were eagerly waiting to watch the most important IPL match of the day, are now worried.

The RCB vs Gujarat Titans IPL match was scheduled to take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Many roads which were under construction, as well as roads which had white topping work, have been turned into pools.

The rains lashed Bengaluru Central district as well as the outskirts of the city. As per reports, several trees have been uprooted, blocking roads and causing inconvenience to commuters. Media reports further claim that many accidents are happening due to sudden rain and hailstorm.

Underpass flooded due to heavy rains in Bengaluru

Many videos and photos are going viral on social media showing how the underpass has been flooded due to heavy rains. According to reports, the KR Circle underpass is waterlogged after heavy rains. Fire and emergency services personnel had to come to the rescue.

IMD Weather Update: Heavy rain expected in South India

On 20 May, Bengaluru received 25 mm of rain. Meanwhile, Uttarahalli region alone recorded 33 mm of rain. Meanwhile, heavy rains are likely to continue over parts of Karnataka.

As per the IMD weather report, light to moderate rain is likely over many parts of South India during the next 5 days. Rain with thunder/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on May 21 and 22. Thunderstorm and rain are likely over Interior Karnataka on May 22 and 23. and over Kerala and Mahe during the next five days.
