Bee attack in Bangalore

At least 10 policemen and others were injured in a bee attack at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The collision was so severe that two policemen had to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the nearest hospital.

A large number of police personnel were deployed at Freedom Park as several organizations were protesting there. Suddenly thousands of bees came from somewhere and attacked the policemen and others.

According to the police, the incident happened before the protest started at Freedom Park, otherwise the accident could have happened as thousands of people could have lived in the premises.

Recently, the Karnataka High Court came down heavily on the police department and the state government for allowing a protest march in the city. The court had directed that the protest be confined to the Freedom Park premises and ensure that the occupants of the vehicle are not disturbed.

DCP (West) Sanjeev Patil said honey bees attacked ‘bandobast’ employees, including women police officers. An inspector and eight other policemen have been admitted to the hospital.

Patil said it was not yet known whether the bees attacked naturally or it was a deliberate act by some miscreants.
