West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to meet her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik on Thursday, where several important issues are likely to be discussed with him.

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee Visited the proposed site for construction of Bengali Guest House in Puri on Wednesday, and praised the Odisha government for providing land for the project. But he did not mention the ‘new front’ even once, though he is scheduled to meet his counterpart Naveen Patnaik on Thursday where a number of important issues are likely to be discussed with him.

Visiting the famous temple dedicated to Jagannath, Banerjee said, “Puri is my first home and Mahaprabhu (Jagannath) is my Thakur (Lord).”

The servant of the parents, Ramakrishna Dasmahapatra offered him Khandua Patta near Singhdwar and took him inside the temple. The Chief Minister stayed inside the temple for an hour. “I worshiped for Maa, Mati, Manush. I got emotional seeing Patitapban Bana changing at the Shrimandir,” she said.

Banerjee further said that Puri is her hometown and she is proud that 90 per cent Bengalis come to the state to visit. Jagannath Swain Mohapatra, the chief servitor of the temple, said, “The relationship between Odia and Bengali is very good.”

Earlier, Mamata had visited the land earmarked for the Bengali Guest House near Giral in Sipasrubali Mauza. After visiting Bhoomi, Banerjee compared Odisha and West Bengal as two sisters. He said that this guest house can be useful for tourists from West Bengal who come to Puri during the world famous Rath Yatra, Snana Yatra and other festivals and holidays. The construction will start after the necessary process is completed.

Lakhs of tourists from West Bengal come here throughout the year to see the Jagannath Temple and its famous festival. I will meet Naveen ji and have a detailed discussion with him.

Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said, “He has liked the land earmarked for the Bengali Guest House. We will extend full cooperation for this.
