It was an epic duel during a T20 Blast match on Saturday when all-rounders Ben Stokes and Carlos Brathwaite went up against each other in what turned out to be a crucial over.

During a T20 Blast match between Warwickshire and Durham, all-rounders Ben Stokes and Carlos Brathwaite went up against each other in what proved to be an eventful reminder of their epic battle in the final of the ICC World T20 in 2016.

In the 2016 T20 World Cup final, Brathwaite of West Indies smashed four sixes in the last over of the chase to lead his team to the title in Kolkata.

Stokes, however, finally got some kind of revenge by hitting Brathwaite almost five years later for two sixes and a four during the ongoing T20 Blast.

Stokes’ side Durham posted a total of 164/8 in the 20 overs they were allotted to bat first. Stokes scored 35 runs in 20 balls, including two fours and three sixes, at an impressive strike-rate of 175. He was particularly in a punitive mood against Brathwaite.

Player of the Tournament of the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup dismissed Brathwaite for 16 with the help of two sixes and a four. Brathwaite eventually took the wicket of Stokes but by then the English player had suffered a lot.

Stokes then dazzled with the ball as well as he took four wickets and was adjudged man of the match. Warwickshire missed the target by 34 runs after being bowled out for 130 in 18.3 overs.

During the epic World Cup final in 2016, the Caribbean needed 19 off 6 balls and England handed Stokes the responsibility of defending those runs. As it turned out, Brathwaite famously smacked for four straight sixes in the first four balls of the over.
