9 seed Belinda Bencic won Switzerland’s third Olympic tennis gold medal by defeating unseeded Marketa Vondrosova of Czech Republic 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 in two hours and 30 minutes on Saturday.

In her previous Olympic appearance in 2016, Alina defeated Germany’s Andrea Petkovic, Great Britain’s Heather Watson and American star Serena Williams to reach the quarterfinals and eventually lost to bronze medalist Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
