Beijing on Sunday asked Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to stop attacks on Chinese civilians in the country. The Chinese demand came during a meeting between senior officials of China and Pakistan to discuss their perspectives on international and regional security situations.

There have been incidents of attacks on Chinese nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects in the Balochistan region in recent days.

Attacks on Chinese civilians by Baloch groups were also discussed in the meeting. Geopolitical issues have come to the fore in Pakistan, as the Baloch insurgency continues to be a threat to peace and stability.

Baloch insurgents are regularly targeting CPEC infrastructure projects, such as gas pipelines and power towers, because they regard China as an imperialist power that seeks to plunder Balochistan’s natural resources along with the government of Pakistan. .

“The two sides discussed their perspectives on the international and regional security situation and expressed satisfaction at the defense cooperation between the two countries,” Inter-Services Public Relations said in a press release.

A senior-level tri-services military delegation from Pakistan visited China from June 9 to 12 and held extensive discussions with senior officials of the Chinese military and other government departments.

According to the statement, “The top meeting was held on June 12, in which the Pakistani side was led by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, while the Chinese side was led by General Zhang Yuxia, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission. ”
