Following concerns raised by the franchises over players withdrawing from the IPL, the BCCI is reportedly planning a preventive measure to discourage those doing so for ‘minor reasons’. “The GC has a commitment to the franchises who are important stakeholders of the league. After much planning, he bid for a player. If a player is out of the game, their calculations get messed up, that too for trivial reasons.” cricbuzz,

However, the policy will deal with players on a case-by-case basis to avoid penalizing them for legitimate reasons including injuries.

“There will be no comprehensive policy that everyone who is out of the IPL will be stopped for a certain number of years. This will be on a case-by-case basis and some research will be done before action is initiated. What if the reason is genuine,” the report quoted an unnamed source as saying.

Ahead of the start of IPL 2022, budding franchise Gujarat Titans suffered a loss after England batsman Jason Roy was ruled out of the season. Roy was bought for his base price of Rs 2 crore.

Another Englishman Alex Hales, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 1.5 crore, cited bio-bubble fatigue as the reason for his comeback.
