BCCI Introduce Historic Test Cricket Incentive To Promote Format

BCCI has introduced a historic ‘Test Cricket’ incentive for Team India players which will see the red ball format being promoted more efficiently. After Team India registered another historic Test series win in Dharamsala, beating the Three Lions 4-1 in the 5-match Test series. The incentives will consist of incentives worth Rs 45 Lakh rupees per match.

BCCI announced the scheme named ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ on March 9 and also mentioned it later in the post match presentation in Dharamsala.

Players representing India in more than 75 percent of the Tests in a season are poised to receive an extra Rs 45 lakh per match. Currently, the BCCI provides Rs 15 lakh as the base match fee for Test cricketers, making it the highest-paying cricket board globally.

To facilitate this initiative, the BCCI has allocated an additional Rs 40 crore per season. Players meeting the criterion of playing more than 75 percent of Tests will receive the enhanced match fee, while those not in the playing XI within this bracket will still receive Rs 22.5 lakh as an additional match fee per game.
