Hubballi: In the weeks immediately following the resignation of BS Yediyurappa, several prominent Congress leaders were issuing statements about the saffron party being a divided house.
Now, it appears that the recent meeting of the office bearers of the Congress party itself is full of factionalism. Belagavi Division, the fault lines lying so far below the surface were completely thrown in relief.

Expressing his displeasure over fielding leaders from other districts from Badami, Chimmanakatti reportedly informed the party that Siddaramaiah should contest from his home district of Mysore.
The former minister pointed to the painstaking efforts of many like him to transform the Congress into a formidable force in Bagalkot.
Meanwhile, another incident of note in the meeting was another incident of allegations leveled by Dharwad Youth Congress leader Girish Gadigeppagoudar against Hubli-Dharwad Block Congress President Rajat Ullagadimath.
Gadigeppagoudar’s attack on Ulagadimath was captured on video, and the former can be seen informing Surjewala and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president DK Shivakumar about the latter’s alleged misdeeds.
Gadigeppagoudar said, “Promising candidates for Congress tickets for the upcoming Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) council elections by claiming that DK Shivakumar is ‘in his pocket’.”
Congress’ Hubli-Dharwad Metropolitan District Unit President Altaf Hallur rubbished rumors of heated words exchanged at the Bagalkot district unit meeting.
“We did not hear anything outside the hall where the meeting took place. The reports of discord in the party are false.
Hallur further said that the KPCC had sought a detailed report on the incident and the allegations leveled by Gadigeppagoudar.
“A disciplinary committee headed by Robert Daddapuri will conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report soon, based on which the KPCC will decide on the future course of action,” he said.
