Barcelona’s Sergio Aguero, Clement Lenglet Suspect for La Liga Opening Weekend Due to Injuries

Barcelona confirmed on Sunday that new signing Sergio Aguero has suffered a calf injury. Although the club did not say how long the Argentine would be out, local media reports said he is away from Real Sociedad for next week’s La Liga season opener.

“The Argentine forward suffered a right calf injury and will undergo further tests to determine the exact extent of the injury,” a club statement said.

Aguero has been linked by French defender Clement Lenglet, who said the club “has a tendon problem in his right knee and has been denied his return based on his recovery.”

Barca took on Juventus in a pre-season friendly on Sunday in the first game of the post-Lionel Messi era, when the forward confirmed he was leaving the club earlier in the day.

No player has been given Messi’s No. 10 jersey for the game.
