“A Cricket Disciplinary Commission (CDC) panel today announced its decision regarding the two charges leveled against Ollie Robinson,” the ECB said in a statement.

‘The minute anyone says ‘Captain’, the first name that comes to mind is MS Dhoni’

Robinson previously acknowledged a violation of ECB directives 3.3 and 3.4 with regard to several offensive tweets that were posted between 2012 and 2014, when he was aged between 18 and 20. The tweets surfaced on 2 June 2021, Which is the first day of his first Test match for England,” the statement added.

The ECB held a hearing on 30 June and decided that he would be suspended from playing eight cricket matches. Of these, five will be suspended for two years.

Robinson has already served suspension for the other three matches. He was ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand at Edgbaston from 10 to 14 June and then ruled himself out of two Vitality Blast T20 matches for Sussex even though he was allowed to play in them.

“After a hearing on June 30, the panel decided that Robinson should be suspended from playing cricket for eight matches, five of which would be suspended for two years,” the statement said.

“With respect to the three matches which are subject to immediate suspension, the Panel has taken into account the suspension imposed by the England team from the second LV=Insurance Men’s Test against New Zealand, including two Vitality Blast T20 matches. Due to the effect of these proceedings, Robinson voluntarily withdrew from selection for the Sussex CCC.”

“Therefore Robinson is free to play cricket immediately,” the statement said.

Robinson had targeted several sections of the society in his tweet.
