Bank employees are going to go on strike once again on 23rd and 24th February. Other organizations including Central Trade Unions (CTU) and All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) have jointly announced a bank strike. Employees of all government and private banks across the country will participate in the strike.

AIBEA general secretary CH Venkatachalam issued a letter to all bank associations and members informing this and asked them to be ready to join this strike. He said the United Forum of Bank Unions had staged a ruckus on March 15 and 16 last year to protest against the privatization of two state-run banks. The strike was held on 16 and 17 December 2021 in protest against the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill 2021. Now be ready for strike again on 23rd and 24th February.

There will be no work for 4 days from 23 to 27 February
If the organizations go on strike on 23rd and 24th February, then in February, from 23rd to 27th, ie 4 days out of 5 days, the work in banks will be stalled. There will be no work in the bank due to strike on 23 and 24 and February 26-27 being the fourth Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Work was affected due to last strike
Bank unions went on strike on December 16 and 17 last month to protest against the government’s plan for privatization of public sector banks. Then the effect of the bank strike was on the functioning of SBI, PNB, Central Bank and RBL Bank. Work related to check clearance, fund transfer, debit card was also stuck.
