In addition, a demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Taijul, for whom it was the first offense in a 24-month period.
The incident happened in the 69th over of Sri Lanka’s innings on Wednesday, when Taijul, on his followthrough, threw the ball in the direction of Angelo Mathews, hitting him while the batsman was within the popping crease and not intending a run. Take.
Taijul admitted the offense and accepted the ban proposed by Chris Broad of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Level 1 violations carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
