Amid rising communal tensions in Bangladesh, police have said that at least 10 cases have been registered in relation to attacks on minorities in the country. According to the information, a case has been registered at Hajiganj police station. Police said there are over 3,000 unidentified persons among the accused.

A total of 71 cases have been registered so far in different parts of the country regarding attacks on Hindus, while about 450 people have been arrested for spreading rumors on social media.

Attacks on Hindus and their temples in Bangladesh have intensified since last Wednesday after an alleged blasphemy post surfaced on social media during Durga Puja celebrations.

Late on Sunday night, mobs damaged 66 houses in Bangladesh and set fire to at least 20 houses of Hindus.

Locals and activists said that on October 13, the communal attack in Hajiganj Upazila of Chandpur took place despite warnings from the local Puja Management Committee.

Five people were killed, while 33 people were injured in the firing by the police. The Dhaka Tribune reported that 23 police officers and staff were among the injured.

According to the local unit of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Ekta Parishad, Bihar Violence (BHBCOP), 12 worship pavilions and several Hindu houses were vandalized on October 13 and 14.
