Balakrishna’s Akhanda strong in the fourth week, earning more than Rs 125 crore

Balakrishna’s Akhanda has earned more than Rs 125 crore in 28 days.

Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Akhanda has so far broken all the records of box office collection among South films. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhand was released on 2 December. Despite facing competition from other big films, it continues to roar at the box office. In its fourth week running in theatres, the film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. The film has earned more than Rs 125 crore in 28 days.

The film marked the third collaboration between actor Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu. However, this is the first film of both to have collected more than Rs 100 crore at the box office. They worked together in two films in the past – Simha (2010) and Legend (2014).

The Telugu action drama had registered a business of Rs 53 crores before its release and the film earned over Rs 70 crores worldwide in just 4 days of release. Now, Akhand is in its fifth week of running in theaters and continues to attract people towards cinema.

Akhand has earned over Rs 125 crore worldwide, while recent reports claim that the film has earned Rs 60 crore in Telugu states in just 28 days. The film saw a drop in its collections in the third week after the release of actor Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise. Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR is just a week away from its release and Akhanda will continue to be released in theatres. Akhanda received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike and helped the film stay strong at the box office.

Akhanda collected a total of Rs 60.79 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and Rs 4.99 crore in Karnataka and rest of the Indian states. Globally it earned Rs 71.91 crore. The gross collection is Rs 125.35 crore.

Apart from Balakrishna, the film also stars Pragya Jaiswal in lead roles, Jagapathi Babu and Srikanth in pivotal roles.
