Bajaj Auto: Bajaj Auto to set up Rs 300 crore EV manufacturing facility in Pune – Times of India

Mumbai: Bajaj Auto Ltd. on Wednesday said it would set up an electric vehicle manufacturing facility here Akurdi With an investment of Rs 300 crore in Pune. The facility, for which work has started, will have the capacity to produce 5,00,000 Electric Vehicles (EVs) annually and cater to both domestic and export markets, the company said in a release.
The first vehicle of the new unit, which is spread over half a million square feet, is expected to be commissioned by June 2022. About 800 personnel will get employment in the unit.

The company said the investment made by Bajaj Auto will be complemented by multiple vendors, who will invest a further Rs 250 crore ($33 million).
The new facility will have state-of-the-art robotic and automated manufacturing systems for everything including logistics and material handling, fabrication and painting, assembly and quality assurance.
These systems are designed for flexible product mix keeping in mind the best worker ergonomics and maximum process efficiency, it said.
Akurdi’s unit is co-located with Bajaj Auto’s state-of-the-art R&D center to foster greater collaboration, leading to faster market growth and should the facility turn into a hub for design, development and manufacturing. The range of electric vehicles, according to the statement.
