Badal Sr files nomination, breaks Achuthanandan’s record

Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal (94) has become the oldest contesting candidate in the country as he filed his nomination papers on Monday. His son and party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal filed his nomination papers from Jalalabad assembly constituency in Fazilka district.

Badal senior said, “I don’t see any competition in front of me. There is no doubt that candidates are in the fray, but mera kisse naal koi muqabla nahi (but I don’t have any worthy contestants). The people of the area have made my campaign their campaign and have already informed me that they will ensure a thumping victory for the SAD from Lambi.

Officials said that the five-time chief minister completed the paperwork before the returning officer of Malout in Muktsar district. With this, he broke former Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan’s record of being the oldest candidate – the CPI(M) leader was 92 years old when he contested the assembly elections in 2016. This is his thirteenth election.

The 11-time MLA has been ruling Lambi since 1997. This was the first public appearance of the CM five times after recovering from Kovid.

According to his election affidavit, he has shown that Badal has assets worth Rs 15.11 crore and liabilities including bank loans are Rs 2.74 crore.

Badal said he has a tractor worth Rs 3.89 lakh and has shown agricultural and non-agricultural land in Muktsar, Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and Sirsa in Haryana. A Bachelor of Arts from FC College, Lahore, Badal has shown himself to be an agriculturist.

Sukhbir, on the other hand, has shown total assets of Rs 202.61 crore with liabilities of Rs 56.69 crore.

According to the affidavit, he has horses worth Rs 95.82 lakh, two weapons worth Rs 3 lakh and paintings worth Rs 3.40 lakh. He does not have a car, he has two tractors worth Rs 2.38 lakh.

After matriculating from Lawrence School in Sanawar in 1980 and MBA from California State University, USA in 1987, Sukhbir has also shown himself as an agronomist.

Sukhbir, who is currently the MP from Firozpur seat, contested against two candidates fielded for the first time. BJP And you. Congress has given ticket to Mohan Singh Falianwala, while SSM has given ticket to Surinder Dhandian.

Soon after filing his nomination papers, Sukhbir left for Jaitu, where he said the Congress was trying to revive its sinking ship in the Malwa region by fielding the chief minister. Charanjit Singh Channi Bhadaur would be a big flop as the entire scheduled caste community was suffering from the ruling party for scrapping and cutting social welfare schemes.

“Channi did not utter a single word in favor of Scheduled Caste students whose scholarship was embezzled by former Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot. He also did not raise his voice against the abolition of the lakhs of blue cards that entitle BPL families to subsidized rations. He did not increase the old age pension or shagun benefit to Rs 2100 and Rs 51,000 respectively as promised by the Congress government.
