‘Backstabber’ Sharad Pawar can’t be our guru, MVA govt just adjustment: Shiv Sena’s Anant Geete

Mumbai: Former Union minister and Shiv Sena leader Anant Geete has alleged that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar, who “stabbed in the back” to make Congress his party, cannot be a “guru” for Shiv Sainiks.

“Pawar had formed his party by stabbing the Congress in the back. If Congress and NCP cannot be united, then Shiv Sena also cannot follow the policy of Congress completely. Congress and NCP were not always cordial,” Geete said while addressing a public rally in Raigad on Monday.

The 70-year-old former MP from Raigad is also just an “adjustment” to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.

“Sharad Pawar can never be our leader because this government is only an adjustment. Let people praise Pawar more and more, but our ‘guru’ is only (late) Balasaheb Thackeray,” said Geete, who lost by a narrow margin to NCP leader Sunil Tatkare in the 2019 general elections.

Geete, however, said he had no “mis-intention” against the Maha Vikas Aghadi government formed of Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena and wanted it to be successful.
