Babar Azam was also amazed by his squad for understanding and implementing his distinctive roles to perfection in the recently concluded series.

A happy Babar Azam on Wednesday lauded his off-spinner Sajid Khan and his “special” bowling as Pakistan thrashed Bangladesh 2-0 in the Test series. Sajid took eight wickets conceding 42 runs in the first innings and returned it with 4/86 in the second innings as Pakistan beat Bangladesh by an innings and eight runs in the second Test to complete their whitewash. He was also awarded the Player of the Match trophy for his stellar performance. “I think Sajid’s special bowling changed the tone of the match,” Babar said in the post-match presentation.

Azam was also surprised by his squad for understanding and implementing his specific roles to perfection in the recently concluded series. “I think everyone is clear about their roles and they were given the confidence to express themselves freely in the middle,” Babar said.

Babar also did well with the bat during Pakistan’s first innings as he scored 76 off 126 balls and became his side’s highest run-scorer in the match. However, his off-spin bowling caught the attention of cricket fans in the last session of the fourth day and on the fifth day.

He bowled two overs and also took his maiden Test wicket by removing Mehdi Hasan from the attack when he began to revive the home team’s innings with Shakib Al Hasan.

Despite a semi-final exit from the 2021 T20 WC, Babar lauded his team for their brave performance in the marquee event. Babar added, “I am really happy with the way we performed in the World Cup, followed by our performance in T20s and Tests and I think this performance will help us move forward.”
