Babar Azam has had a stellar year where he has been awarded multiple times by the ICC. He was also named ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year, ODI Player of the Year and captain of the ODI team of the year.
2022 was a tough year India Star Virat Kohli. Runs had dried up and the captaincy was being snatched away, Kohli looked desperate to score a century. Since his century came back in 2019. After a poor IPL, he landed in England where a Test century was expected. However, the series proved to be a bad one for Badshah and with the pressure mounting, he was supported by none other than Pakistan’s Babar Azam.
“This too shall pass. Stay strong,” Babar had then tweeted along with a picture of himself and Kohli, and it didn’t take long to become a meme fest.
However, in a conversation with ICC insider Zainab Abbas, the Pakistan captain opened up on why he came up with that tweet.
As a player, one can go through such times,” Babar said.
“At that time I thought that maybe if I tweet, it might help someone and give them confidence. See, as a player, you try to support every player in difficult times.
“It is in difficult times when you realize what others are thinking of you. At that time I thought that I should do this and maybe something positive will come out of it. Something that can be a plus point.”

Misbah-ul-Haq feels there should be no comparison between the two Virat Kohli And as a former Babar Azam has played a greater amount of cricket than the current Pakistan captain. Kohli is often regarded as the best batsman in modern-day cricket, while Babar’s emergence in recent years has forced fans to draw comparisons between the two batsmen.
Both the batsmen share a good rapport off the field as they have often spoken highly of each other in public forums.
Kohli has been a consistent performer across formats for over a decade, while Babar has also made a big name for himself after making his international debut in 2015.
However, Misbah feels that no one can match Kohli at the moment as he has played more cricket than Babar and has been consistent at all levels.
