Avatar: The Way of Water remains steady at box office, crosses Rs 80 Cr on Day 2!

new Delhi: James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has finally hit the theaters and is doing wonders at the box office. While the film turned out to be the second biggest opener in India with Rs 40 crore, it remained steady at the box office on its second day as well.

According to a Box Office India report, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has earned Rs 40.5 crore on its second day, taking the film’s two-day collection above Rs 80 crore. “The film’s two-day box office is 80 cr nett plus and the weekend is looking up to a massive 125 cr nett mark, unless Nizam/Andhra sees another drop today as collections are still very high in the circuit. .If the circuit drops then it might be slightly less than 125 cr nett but it hardly matters as it is a big weekend.

Although the worldwide collections of the film have not been that amazing. In the US, the film grossed $53 million in its first two days of release. It collected an additional $127.1 million in international markets over three days, Disney said in a statement on Saturday.

‘Avatar – The Way of Water’ is the second installment of the franchise and marks the return of Stephen Lang’s villainous character Colonel Quaritch – who appears to have been resurrected via a Na’vi Avatar form – once again playing the Pandora original Neytiri ( Zoe Saldana) and her partner Jake Sully (Sam Worthington). Franchise newcomers include Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco and Jemaine Clement.

Like its predecessor ‘Avatar’, the film is written and directed by James Cameron. The story was co-written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.
