Australia’s state of Victoria reported six locally acquired cases of COVID-19 on Friday, the first day of a week-long lockdown, as officials found the source of several unlinked new infections found in the state capital Melbourne. Ran to find out.

The state health department said all the new cases are linked to the people previously reported and were not in quarantine during the infectious period.

Victoria, Australia’s second most populous state and home to nearly 7 million people, entered its sixth lockdown since the pandemic began on Thursday night, just weeks after pulling out of the previous one.
