Australia will allow holders of fully vaccinated visas from 1 December

Further relaxing its travel rules, Australia will now allow holders of fully immunized visas to enter the country from 1 December. Making the announcement, the Prime Minister said that such passengers can come without the need to apply for travel exemption. Eligible visa holders include skilled and student groups as well as humanitarian, working vacationers and temporary family visa holders.

Additional changes have been announced as part of a national plan to safely reopen Australia.

“From 1 December 2021, holders of fully immunized visas can come to Australia without needing to apply for a travel waiver. Eligible visa holders include skilled and student groups, as well as humanitarian, working holidaymakers and provisional family visa holders Including,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a statement.

He said these changes would ensure that “we continue to protect the health of Australians while securing our economic recovery by reuniting families and opening our borders to skilled and student visa holders”.

Under these arrangements, Morrison said that travelers must be fully vaccinated with a full dose of vaccine approved or recognized by Australia’s Medical Goods Administration (TGA), hold a valid visa for one of the eligible visa subclasses, Provide proof of their vaccination status. and submit a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken within three days of departure.

“The return of skilled workers and international students to Australia will further strengthen our economic recovery, providing valuable workers to our economy and supporting our vital education sector,” Morrison said.

Australia reopened its border to quarantine-free travellers on 1 November after months of stringent pandemic restrictions.

On March 20 last year, Australia introduced some of the toughest border restrictions in the world in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Strict restrictions were imposed by Australia on traveling abroad for 18 months without permission.
