According to a report in The West Australian, Australia batsman Peter Handscomb has now tested positive for Covid-19 while playing in England for a county stint. The 30-year-old has been leading Middlesex this year but has now been ruled out of a Championship Group 2 game after testing positive.

Ireland player Tim Murtagh served as captain for Handscomb, as Middlesex finished the day on 280/3 against Leicestershire. Handscomb last played for the Australian team in 2019 and has played in all three formats so far.
Meanwhile, England is in the grip of another wave of the virus and another county saw a positive case in their favour. English county side Kent were hit by COVID-19 on Sunday, with one of their players testing positive for the virus, forcing the club to put the entire team – against Surrey – on 9 July. Kia was played at the Oval – ten days to self-isolate.
“Following the PCR test yesterday (July 10), Kent Cricket can confirm that an unnamed member of Kent’s Men’s First XI team has tested positive for COVID-19.
“In collaboration with Public Health England and the England and Wales Cricket Board, affected players will now follow a period of self-isolation starting from 10 July, following the UK Government’s protocol on quarantine.
“The remaining members of the Kent Spitfires Vitality Blast squad played on Friday night (July 9) at the Kia Oval have been deemed close contacts and are therefore also required to self-isolate for ten days,” the statement said.

“The club can confirm that a full squad will be named for today’s LV=Insurance County Championship match against Sussex and the two upcoming Vitality Blast matches against Middlesex and the Sussex Sharks.”
Heino Kuhn will take over as captaincy and the full squad for Sunday’s match will be announced shortly, the statement said.
At the same time, Team India is also in England and is currently enjoying the break. In August, he has to play a Test series against England.
