AU will soon have an Agriculture Faculty on its campus. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: Allahabad University (AU) will soon have a ‘Faculty of Agriculture’ on its campus. The scheme, being processed and launched by the university administration on a priority basis, is part of AU’s initiative under the New National Policy on Education (NEP-2020).
Presently at 134 years old, the fourth oldest university in the country, y has just four faculties- Arts, Science, Law and Commerce. Previously, AU had faculties of engineering and agriculture, but it was separated from AU in the past and today operates as two separate identities.
As per the plan of AU officials, the new Faculty of Agriculture may well come up in the Hindu Hostel campus, which the university has recently acquired on a nominal lease of Re 1 per annum for the next 29 years and 11 months. Once ready, it will offer various vocational courses related to various aspects of agriculture and allied sectors, preferably from 2023-24.
“The University is constantly striving to offer vocational courses and programs considered important to the society. As part of NEP-2020, the university is gearing up to introduce new integrated courses on the one hand, as well as setting up an agriculture faculty,” said Prof Jaya Kapoor, AU PRO.
