Atiq Ahmed’s Two Jailed Sons Booked For Attempt To Murder, Extortion

Prayagraj (UP): Police here have registered a fresh FIR against Umar and Ali, two sons of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed, on charges of attempt to murder and extortion. Police officials said that based on the complaint of builder Mohammad Muslim, an FIR has been registered at Khuldabad police station.

Atiq and his brother Ashraf, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, were shot dead. Here on April 15, three men posing as journalists as they were being taken for check-up to a hospital by police personnel.

Mohammad, a resident of Chakia, started working as a builder in 2006. According to the FIR, Atiq, his brother Ashraf and their accomplices encroached on his land and demanded money from him.

Fearing Atiq, Mohammad left Prayagraj and went to Lucknow. However, Atiq’s henchmen continued to threaten him, officials said.

Mohammad has land in Devghat village which is worth around Rs 15 crore. He said Atiq’s aide Asad Kalia visited Lucknow several times and threatened to force Mohammad to transfer his land in the names of Ali and Umar Ahmed.

A few years ago, Mohammad was surrounded, forced into a car and taken to Ateeq’s office, where he was locked in a room and beaten.

Based on Mohd’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against Umar and Ali Ahmed, Asad Kalia, Ehtesham Karim, Ajay and Mohd Nasrat under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 386 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code. , officials said.

While Umar is lodged in Lucknow Jail, Ali is lodged in Naini Jail.

Atiq’s third son Asad, who was also named in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in a police encounter on 13 April.
