Lucknow: Amidst the blame game over the sensational murder of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, three sharpshooters, who killed both of them on the spot, were on Monday shifted from Prayagraj Central Jail to Pratapgarh District Jail over security concerns. News agency PTI quoted a senior official as saying that the three killers have been transferred on administrative grounds.

The attackers – Mohit alias Sunny (23) of Hamirpur, Lavlesh Tiwari (22) of Banda and Arun Maurya (18) of Kasganj – were arrested soon after the sensational shootout outside the Prayagraj hospital where the brothers were killed by policemen. Were taking for medical examination – till Saturday night.

Officials said all three were taken from Prayagraj at 12 noon and reached Pratapgarh at 2.10 pm. It may be noted that one of the remaining two sons of Atiq Ahmed is currently lodged in Prayagraj Central Jail in Uttar Pradesh.

UP Police constitutes SIT to investigate Atiq Ahmed-Ashraf murder

According to an order issued by Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma on Sunday, the first SIT headed by Additional DCP (Crime) Satish Chandra has been constituted to probe the murder case registered at Shahganj police station. A second SIT has been constituted to monitor the first. This SIT will be headed by ADG Prayagraj Zone Bhanu Bhaskar and will also have Prayagraj Police Commissioner and Director Forensic Science Laboratory as its members, said an order issued by Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police RK Vishwakarma on Sunday.

Three-member judicial panel to probe Prayagraj murder case


The state government on Sunday also announced the formation of a three-member judicial inquiry committee to probe the murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed. The committee will be headed by Justice Arvind Kumar Tripathi of the Allahabad High Court (retd), and two others including retired judge Brijesh Kumar Soni and retired IPS officer Subesh Kumar Singh.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate notice of the incident and ordered the setting up of a judicial commission in the matter. The three shooters Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lavlesh Tiwari, who killed Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the district court on Sunday. Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were cremated on Sunday at a family graveyard in Kasari Masari area of ​​Prayagraj.

The minor sons of gangster Atiq Ahmed were brought to the crematorium from the juvenile home. Atiq Ahmed was also an accused in the 2005 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal murder case and the Umesh Pal murder case in February this year.
