A fire broke out on Friday at a rig of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) in Geleki area of Assam’s Sivasagar district, but was quickly doused. No one got injured. The incident occurred at approximately 1450 hrs, the company said in a statement.
“ONGC immediately activated its emergency response protocols, and the company’s fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control. With the prompt and efficient response of firefighters from ONGC Assam Asset, the fire was doused immediately, thereby avoiding any loss of life or injury.”
The fire was brought under control by 16:17. However, the ONGC fire brigade continued the cooling operation. It added, “The wellsite has been secured and is currently under constant monitoring by experts.” “There is no report of injury to any employee of ONGC or its business partner.”
