Guwahati: Assam The government on Monday announced complete control in five districts of the state and banned Eid-al-Adha celebrations in mosques and public places.

On the other hand, round the clock curfew has been imposed in Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and Vishwanath districts. ASDMAhas Issued instructions for both rural and urban areas, which will be applicable from 5 am on Tuesday till further orders.
“There will be total containment in five districts showing high positivity rate of late. Among the districts showing moderate positivity rate- goalpara and Morigaon District – Curfew will be in place from 1 pm to 5 am,” said Health Minister Keshav Mahanta at a news conference.
He said that the remaining 27 districts will have curfew from 5 pm to 5 am, while the positivity is showing improvement in these districts.
Mahanta said that it is mandatory for all the passengers entering Assam to undergo a COVID test. Even those arriving at Assam airports from other northeastern states will also be tested. All work places, business and commercial establishments, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, animal feed, restaurants, dhabas etc will remain closed in districts with high positivity rate. However, relaxation has been given till 12 noon in districts showing moderate positivity rate (Galpara and Morigaon) and till 4 pm in 27 districts showing improvement in positivity rate.
The ASDMA order stated that there will be a complete ban on the movement of all public and private transport in the districts under total control, where there is a round the clock curfew. But movement of goods has been allowed in these five districts. In other districts, all public transport officials have been asked to enforce COVID-appropriate behavior and proper seating arrangement inside vehicles, carriers and containers. “All inter-district passenger transport services and movement of people to and from other districts will remain suspended,” read the SOP.
While public gathering restrictions will continue in total containment districts, a maximum of 10 persons are allowed for marriages or funerals in other districts. Physical classes are not yet allowed in schools, colleges and universities.
Excise officers have been empowered to take strict action against illegal production and sale of country liquor in all districts. The government had earlier said that illegal liquor hubs had turned into Covid hotspots. The SOP said that other restrictions including the odd-even formula for plying of vehicles will continue.
