Assam CM lays foundation of developmental projects worth Rs 1220 crore in Dhemaji

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a total of 20 projects worth Rs 1220.21 crore in Dhemaji district. He said that the State Government was working to change the image of Dhemaji district from flood prone district to developed and progressive district. Sarma on Friday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects under ‘Bikakhor Babe Etah Pokhek’ (a fortnight for development initiative) initiative in Dhemaji district to bring about a paradigm shift in the development story of the district.

Under the initiative, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a new Medical College and Hospital at Dhemaji at a cost of Rs 605.24 crore, Integrated DC Office, Dhemaji at a cost of Rs 49.89 crore, District Sports Stadium Complex at Deoribil. A mini stadium at Silapathar at a cost of Rs.50.53 crore and Rs.12.36 crore.

He also laid the foundation stone for upgradation of ITI, Dhemaji and Dhemaji Polytechnic at an estimated cost of Rs 5.03 crore and construction of various roads at an estimated cost of Rs 497.09 crore. The CM urged various organizations to shun the culture of bandhs and dharnas and develop a work culture to rejuvenate the social environment and promote indigenous culture, agriculture and other sectors of the economy in the state.

Highlighting the future development plans for Dhemaji, the Chief Minister said that the infrastructure of all high schools in the district would be upgraded in phases at a cost of Rs 7 to 8 crore. A milk processing unit will also be set up in the district. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed office of the District BJP and addressed the party workers.
