Asaduddin Owaisi questions SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s silence on hijab row

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday questioned Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s silence on the ongoing hijab row.

Speaking to India Today during his visit to UP’s Rampur, Owaisi slammed Akhilesh Yadav, saying, “When he was asked about Muslims and the hijab problem, he dismissed the question, saying ‘aawaz nahi aa rahi’ [I cannot hear you],

“What message are you sending to minority and Muslim society?” the AIMIM chief further asked.

Asaduddin Owaisi went on to say, “The hijab controversy is a matter of fundamental rights. It is about women empowerment.”

Owaisi had earlier claimed that the incidents in Karnataka were a ‘grave violation’ of the Constitution.
