According to a local of Karbi tribal-dominated village, three days ago the body of a newlywed was found in the village pond.
90 per cent charred body of a man who allegedly set ablaze a newly wed woman in Assam’s Nagaon district on Saturday was found.
During a public hearing in Bor Lalung area of Nagaon, a man named Ranji Bordoloi was allegedly burnt alive. “We received information at 6 pm that in a public hearing, a person was burnt alive after being found guilty of murder and later his body was buried. The body has been fished out and some people have been detained,” said M Das, SDPO.
“The body is 90% burnt,” he said.
According to a local of Karbi tribal-dominated village, three days ago the body of a newlywed was found in the village pond.
“Today, some women in our village overheard an elderly woman saying that she killed the newly wed. A community meeting was held on Saturday, where he was called and inquired about the incident. He confessed that five men planned to kill the woman and that she was strangled to death by Ranjit Bordoloi. Later, Bordaloi was dragged to the meeting, where he confessed to his crime. Angered by this, someone beat him up, then someone burnt him alive by pouring kerosene. Later, his body was buried,” informed the local youth.
