Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang gets its first cinema, ticket price is only Rs 100

Tawang First Movie Hall: Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang got its first movie hall on Saturday with a start-up that sits close to the tense India-China border at an altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level. This cinema hall has a seating capacity of 80 people. This is the first cinema hall opened in Tawang’s famous Hotel Gaki Khang Zhang. Cineplex has been constructed by Jadu Media Solutions in a heavily fortified city close to the India-China border. This cinema hall has all women staff which makes it even more special.

Ticket price is only Rs. 100

Tickets to Tawang’s first movie hall cost just Rs 100. The people who came to experience the ‘First Day First Show’ were very happy. Viewers say that the facilities here are very good and it was great to see the film here. Everything is fine from the seating arrangement to the coffee shop and toilets. Youth are seeing it as entertainment as well as employment opportunities. A young man who came to experience cinema told that the cinema hall open here is at a very cheap price. Also we are getting job opportunities because we need lot of manpower to run movie hall.

Movie Hall at a cost of Rs 35 lakh

Rajeev Nehra, Founder Managing Director, Jadu Media says that there are 110 crore people in this country who have never experienced ‘First Day First Show’ and it is 110 crore people who can change the cinema industry. We built a movie hall which was completed in three months. It has been built at a cost of Rs 35 lakh. The ticket price here is Rs 100-125, while the cost of popcorn is just Rs 50.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has hardly three or four theatres, including one in Itanagar but none in Tawang. Rajiv Nehra said that starting from Tawang, we will expand to the rest of the country. In the entire North East, we will make at least 20-22 screens in 2022. It has just been opened in Tawang. The construction work of Bomdila will be completed by Christmas this year.

In 2006, Arunachal Pradesh joined the Indian Cinema League with its first feature film, Sonam. The film has been shot in Tawang city. However, ironically, the locals were dependent on laptops and conference hall projectors to watch movies. Watching movies in projectors has also stopped after the first lockdown in early 2020. Tawang also has a 336-year-old Buddhist monastery, the largest in India and the second largest in the world after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet.
