Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane today took stock of the situation on the border with China and Pakistan. In the review meeting, the Army Chief discussed the current situation with the army officers posted in the Northern and Eastern Command. New Army Deputy Chief Manoj Pandey was also present in this meeting with Naravane.

According to the report, this review meeting of the army chief is considered important amid the standoff on the border of China and Pakistan. Recently, the army has deployed new officers and military forces in the border areas. On behalf of the Army, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi has been posted as the Northern based in Udhampur while Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita has been posted as the Commander in the Eastern Sector.

Tension on China border from 2020
There is an atmosphere of tension in the border area after the clash with the Chinese army in Galvan Valley in June 2020. So far 14 rounds of talks have been held to establish peace with China. The 15th round of talks between the two countries is also proposed soon.

In the meeting, the army chief took information from the officers about the improvements made by India on the border. Along with this, the strategy of China-Pakistan has also been discussed. Earlier on Army Day, Naravane had said that military capability has been increased in areas adjacent to China. The army chief had said that the situation along the border remains critical.
