NEW DELHI: With the Army conducting its first-ever hackathon over three months, General MM Naravane on Thursday said the 13-lakh strong force is “alive” to cyber threats and has taken a number of steps to consolidate its capabilities in the cyber-warfare domain.
Over 15,000 civilians, including college students, took part in the hackathon conducted online by the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering at Mhow, under the aegis of the Shimla-based Army Training Command,
The hackathon, named ‘Sainya Ranakshetram‘, which was conducted from October 1 to December 31 last year, included a number of challenges based on secure coding, software-defined radio exploitation and cyber-offensive skills.
“The highlights included participants competing with each other in cyberspace against simulated threats. The event also saw a number of training sessions and talks by experts for the participants. Cyber ​​enthusiasts from across the country took part in the event, with substantial response from rural and remote areas,” an officer said.
