NEW DELHI: With the Army conducting its first-ever hackathon over three months, General MM Naravane on Thursday said the 13-lakh strong force is “alive” to cyber threats and has taken a number of steps to consolidate its capabilities in the cyber-warfare domain.
Over 15,000 civilians, including college students, took part in the hackathon conducted online by the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering at Mhow, under the aegis of the Shimla-based Army Training Command,
The hackathon, named ‘Sainya Ranakshetram‘, which was conducted from October 1 to December 31 last year, included a number of challenges based on secure coding, software-defined radio exploitation and cyber-offensive skills.
“The highlights included participants competing with each other in cyberspace against simulated threats. The event also saw a number of training sessions and talks by experts for the participants. Cyber enthusiasts from across the country took part in the event, with substantial response from rural and remote areas,” an officer said.
