AR Rahman announces his digital music platform on his birthday

New Delhi: Oscar-winning music director, singer and lyricist AR Rahman is celebrating his 56th birthday on Friday and took to Twitter to announce the launch of his digital platform ‘Katraar’.

Born on January 6, 1967, the legendary musician is opening new avenues for budding artists with his digital music platform where music artists can directly upload their compositions and monetize them.


Rahman will also release some of his exclusive creations through the Qatrar platform.

He shared a video and wrote: “I’m excited to announce today – Katrar, the #metaverse platform currently in development, one step closer to launch. And I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you.” I’m curious.”

Rahman is also known for composing music for several films and international collaborations. He was spotted by director Mani Ratnam and Rahman began scoring for his Tamil film Roja. Later he also worked for ‘Bombay’. He won two Oscar Awards. He is also the winner of six National Film Awards and was awarded the Padma Bhushan.

He said in the video that the platform is all about new technologies and bringing in direct revenue for artists. It is about bringing in fresh talent and giving them a platform to focus on innovation and bridge the gap between the old and the new.

Soon there will be many international compositions on this platform. The platform is being developed in partnership with the HBAR Foundation and will be deployed on the Hedera network.
