Apple iPhone shipments may cross 80 million units this quarter

New Delhi: Apple may sell over 80 million iPhones in the holiday quarter from October to December, due to the extended delivery schedule of the iPhone 13 Pro, according to investment bank Wedbush estimates. In the wake of the global chip and logistics crisis, there is a long wait on offline and online channels for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

According to Daniel Ives, Principal Analyst at Wedbush, the demand for iPhones during this busy holiday season is 15 per cent more than the supply. The renowned Apple analyst noted that the iPhone maker will sell around 40 million iPhone units between Black Friday and Christmas alone, thus, a record holiday pace for the Cupertino-based California-based company.

“Despite the chip shortage and Rubik’s Cube logistics that Apple (and every other tech, auto and retailer) is dealing with, we are seeing tremendous demand trends in both the US and China for the iPhone 13 which is a positive sign. That’s why Apple may go ahead A report by Apple Insider quoted Ives as saying 80 million iPhone units sold in the quarter with the strong Pro version.

Ives noted that like the iPhone, the AirPods will see a strong holiday quarter. He said Apple could ship around 100 million AirPods this quarter.
