Apple: Apple fired leader of the #AppleToo movement, here’s what to say on his sacking and more – Times of India

for the past few months, Apple The employees started a ‘movement’ and worked to find out whether fellow employees had faced any harassment or discrimination at work. Called the #AppleToo movement, it was led by Janeke Parish. Last week, however, he was fired by Apple for allegedly deleting files from his work devices during an internal investigation – an action that Apple classified as “non-compliant.”
Parish has spoken out on his dismissal from The Verge, the Apple investigation, and more. Upon Apple’s investigation, Parish told The Verge that he was called in for a meeting with HR and global security on 30 September. He said his devices were confiscated but before that he removed apps containing personal information such as Robin Hood and others. “Apple doesn’t need to know how much money I lost GameStop. I work on political campaigns, and Democratic political campaign information has to be kept private.
A week later he was informed that he was being suspended and that all his internal accounts had been deactivated. A few days later Apple fired him for deleting the files.
However, Parish said that was not really the case for his termination. “I believe I was kicked out for my work with #AppleToo, and out of concern that I was organizing to help other employees tell their stories. In my view “It is utter retaliation to bring Apple’s actions to light and publicly ask the company to do better,” she told The Verge.
Parish doesn’t believe the #AppleToo movement is over. “I think Apple speaks volumes about the company and its priorities, rather than asking an employee to speak up and do better than what the company actually does.” He further said that his goal is to make Apple better for everyone. “And it seems that Apple is less interested than I am,” she said in an interview with The Verge.
