Apple AirTag: When to replace the battery, what to avoid and how – Times of India

Apple Airtag Does not come with rechargeable battery and is powered by the commonly found CR2032 Lithium 3V coin battery. Depending on usage, you may need to replace the battery airtag once every year. While CR2032 batteries are easy to find, Apple now mentions in its support page that CR2032 batteries with a bitter coating may not work with AirTag. Bitter coatings are applied to hazardous substances such as batteries to prevent children or pets from swallowing them.
How to Check Apple AirTag Battery Life

  • Open Find My App.
  • Tap the Items tab.
  • Tap the AirTag whose battery charge you want to check.
  • Check the battery icon named AirTag.
  • If the charge is too low, you’ll see a banner with Low battery.

How to Replace the Apple AirTag Battery

  • Press down on your AirTag’s polished stainless steel battery cover and turn counterclockwise until the cover stops rotating.
  • Remove cover and battery.
  • Insert a new CR2032 Lithium 3V coin battery (available at most electronics and drug stores) with the positive side facing up. You will hear a sound indicating that the battery is connected.
  • Replace the cover, making sure the three tabs on the cover align with the three slots on the airtag.
  • Turn the cover clockwise until it stops.
