Aparajito First Look: Fans stunned to see a similar picture of Jitu Kamal to Satyajit Ray

Some black and white photographs, believed to be of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, are doing the rounds on the internet. And while Bengali film lovers just can’t contain their excitement, the man seen in the viral pictures is not Satyajit Ray but actor Jeetu Kamal. The pictures going viral on the internet have the actor’s first look for the film Aparajito.

Actor Jeetu Kamal is playing the character of Aparajito Ray in director Anik Dutta’s upcoming film Aparajito.

Anik Dutta’s new film is inspired by Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali. The film is the second film in the Aparajito Apu trilogy.

Talking to the media, the director of the film said, “Satyajit Ray sir always had fresh ideas to make a film. He always had a passion for music and films.”

Talking about his upcoming film, Dutta said, “In my film, the main character Pather is making a film called Podaboli. The film is an inspirational film. Through this film, we are trying to convey that If you dream, you must work towards fulfilling those dreams and most importantly you must have the courage to dream.”

The director further added that for the lead character, he was auditioning actors, but he never expected anyone to be a Satyajit Ray lookalike. “One day I was participating in a rally when I saw Jeetu Kamal. On interacting with him I came to know that he was an actor. But then we had almost finalized another actor.”

“However, I decided to go ahead with the look test. When Jeetu came out of the make-up room, everyone present in the room was surprised to see Jeetu Kamal. He looked exactly like Satyajit Ray sir. The makeup artist used some prosthetics to give Jeetu Kamal a look,” said the director.

The Aparajito director further said that after the look test, it was commissioned for his screen test. Anik Dutta said, “Jeetu Kamal was spotless in front of the camera.”
