Justin Timberlake said everyone attending the concert for the first time would “feel the fellowship and the love.”

Justin Timberlake addressed his recent DWI charges with a surprising joke during his concert at TD Garden in Boston on Sunday. Timberlake, performing as part of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, made a playful reference to his arrest earlier in June when he was taken into custody in New York and faced charges of drunk driving.

A fan recorded the 43-year-old musician joking about the event when he was on tour. Timberlake addresses the audience in the video, saying, “So uhhh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving?.” When his audience burst out laughing, he responded, “No… I’m just kidding!”

Timberlake quickly put everything back on course. He then got right in, asking if anyone was there for the first time or if they had attended one, two, three or four of their shows. He continued by saying that he hoped everyone attending for the first time would “feel the fellowship and the love.”

Timberlake made these remarks a few weeks after being detained in Sag Harbour, New York and accused of violating a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. He was given two tickets and one count of DWI.

According to a witness who spoke with the New York Post, Justin was “wasted” in the bar before being arrested, sipping from someone else’s beverage while the other individual went to the restroom. Timberlake swerved into another lane and raced into a red light, which prompted police to pull him over.

His eyes, according to the officer, “were bloodshot and glassy,” Complex reports.

If the reports are to be believed, he “smelled strongly of alcohol, had trouble dividing his attention, spoke slowly, lacked balance when walking, and did badly on all of the usual field sobriety tests.”

After being arrested for DWI, Timberlake gave an emotional statement on his experiences during his tour stop in Chicago.

“We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” he was quoted by the magazine.

Adding that it has been a “tough week,” he said that “you’re here and I’m here” and that nothing could alter the present scenario.

The ten-time Grammy winner continued by telling the crowd that although he is “hard to love” at times, he will love them back if they continue to do so.
