Anushka Sharma’s Jhulan Goswami biopic Chakda Express finds a fan in Shabaash Mithu’s Taapsee Pannu

Anushka Sharma got a loud cheer after Taapsee Pannu announced her new, cricket-themed film Chakda Express on Thursday. On Wednesday, Anushka took to Instagram to announce the film and revealed that she will be playing the role of former Indian women’s cricket team captain Jhulan Goswami.

Taapsee, who will be seen playing the role of Mithali Raj in the biopic Shabaash Mithu, took to the comments section and showed her support for the Anushka and Jhulan Goswami biopic. He wrote, ‘From Mithali to Jhulan! Go for it sister.” She also shared the teaser of Chakda Express on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “Woman in blue ‘Go for Chakda Express!”

The NH10 star also got support from other stars in the industry. Arjun Kapoor commented, “Je baat!!!” And Anushka’s Sui Dhaaga co-star Varun Dhawan dropped the emoji with a raised hand. Athiya Shetty and director Zoya Akhtar applauded and made heart emojis.

Chakda Express is ready to stream on Netflix. Speaking about her association with the film, Anushka wrote in an Instagram post: “As a woman, I am proud to hear Jhulan’s story and honor to try to bring her life to the audience and cricket lovers alike. Is. As a cricketing nation, we have to give our women cricketers their due. Jhulan’s story is truly a downtrodden story in the history of cricket in India and the film is a celebration of his spirit.”

The cricket-based film marks Anushka’s first film in three years. The actor was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s directorial venture Zero opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, which released in 2018. Although she did not face the camera, Anushka was actively involved in her production company, Clean Slate Films. Under the banner, Anushka supported the hit Amazon Prime series Paatal Lok and Netflix drama Bulbul. She is also supporting Irrfan Khan’s son Babil’s debut project Kaala.
